ASTROPHYTUM MYRIOSTIGMA VERIAGATA GRAFT! This is an ASTROPHYTUM MYRIOSTIGMA NUDAM VERIAGATA GRAFT. These plants origanally came from the Southwestern US, & Northern Mexico. They are very hard to find in the wild ( some say they are extinct) because of over Havesting. This particular plant is a Japanese/Chinese Cultivar on graftstock. They are very, slow growers. That is why whenever you see one they are usually grafted to a much faster growing species, which in turn will make the top part (the scion) grow as fast as the bottom piece it's is grafted to. They don't need hardly any water in the winter, only water & feed in the summer when the soil in it's pot is completly dry. This plant is in a 4" pot, & is 2" wide By 7" Tall. The top part alone is 1.5" tall x 2"" wide . This plant should be safe down close to the 40's F. as long as it is kept totaly dry, & definatly not exposed to frost. Just like most cacti you have to be careful & water enough to get the soil wet, but only water when the soil is totally dry! when you receive this plant wait a day or two before potting it, use only, partially damp, very well draining cactus soil once potted, wait again untill the soil is completly dry before watering. All of this is to help the roots heal from my uprooting to your repotting. Always remember, with almost all cacti, it's much easier to kill one from too much water than from not enough! While you are acclimating this plant to it's new home, remember to also acclimate it very slowly to the full sun to the best case by just giving it a big scar that will not ever go away. So be sure & slowly acclimate it to the full sun. This particular plant only needs a few hours of direct sun each day. If there is any information you need to help with any plant, don't hesitate to write me with any questions you might have.
